That is false. The API supports "/ping", as well as "/tool ping" and "/tool traceroute". Yes, the output is different, and needs to be processed, andyourapp may not support the API... But the API protocol itselfdoessupport these.1.API service will not help you, this is done using SSH. API in Mikrotik does not support traceroute, pings, etc.
